Our commitment
We want anyone to be able to get a quote from BarkYard PDX, including people who use screen readers, navigate by keyboard, rely on magnification, or need reduced motion.
The standard we aim for
We aim to meet Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA. This is the standard most commonly referenced for public-facing websites in the United States.
What we have done
- Keyboard access — every interactive element can be reached and operated by keyboard, with a clearly visible focus indicator
- Skip link — a "skip to content" link is the first thing you reach by keyboard on every page
- Form labels — every field has a visible label that is programmatically connected to it. Placeholder text is used only for examples, never as a substitute for a label
- Error messages — form errors are described in words next to the field, and announced to screen readers. We never signal an error with color alone
- Live updates — the price estimate is announced when it changes
- Reduced motion — if your system is set to reduce motion, all animation and smooth scrolling is turned off
- Structure — one main heading per page, headings in order, and landmark regions so screen reader users can navigate by section
- Contrast and target size — text and controls are designed to meet the AA contrast ratios, and tap targets are at least 44 by 44 pixels
Known limitations
We are honest about what is not done yet:
- The site has not yet been audited by an independent accessibility specialist
- The site has not yet been tested with every combination of screen reader and browser

We do not use an accessibility overlay. Overlay widgets — the floating accessibility buttons some sites add — frequently interfere with the assistive technology people already use. We build accessibility into the site instead.

If any part of this site is difficult or impossible for you to use, we want to know. Please tell us:
- The page you were on
- What you were trying to do
- What happened instead
- The browser, device, and any assistive technology you were using, if you know
Use our contact form and choose "Accessibility issue" as the request type. We aim to respond within 5 business days.
If the website is a barrier to requesting service, contact us through that form and we will arrange your quote another way. You will never be denied service because of a problem with our website.
Ongoing work
We review this site for accessibility when we make significant changes, and at least once a year. This statement was last reviewed on [REVIEW DATE].
